Harry Potter: The Sorcerer's Stone
Title: Harry Potter: The Sorcerer’s Stone Author: J.K. Rowling How could I not start off my book review journey with this book? One of the best books in the history of books. Over 500 million copies sold worldwide. I read this series when I was 11. Exactly the age, in the book, when Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry sends an invitation to wizards and witches. It happened to be a coincidence but deep-down I was secretly hoping to get an invitation letter delivered by an owl. Alas! Nothing came. About the Author This book has been written by one of my favorite authors, J.K Rowling. She was born on July 31st, 1965 at Gloucestershire, England. An interesting fact about her is that, before she wrote Harry Potter she was one of the poorest in the country but after her publications, she became even richer than the queen of England. Harry’s Past Harry’s past has been what you call dark. His parents were killed by Lord Voldemort aka YOU-KNOW-WHO. Harry’s mom used her last bit of strength to save Harry and kill Voldemort. That incident caused a lightning shaped scar on his forehead, which connected Harry with Voldemort’s life force. Without any parents, Harry was left to be raised by his uncle and aunt, who resented him. Everybody thought Voldemort died but… What Next? It all started before Harry Potter himself didn’t know he was a wizard by birth. His uncle and aunt kept this a secret from him for 11 years but everyone has their destiny and Harry was destined to be a wizard. All of a sudden owls jam in front of their house carrying an invitation from Hogwarts. They still ignored it but then right on Harry’s 11th birthday, the huge but soft-hearted Hagrid comes to get Harry in person. The uncle and aunt had no choice but to let him go. Harry discovered the magical side of the world and met his lifelong friends, the cute red headed Ron Weasley and the witty and cute Hermione Granger. They went to Hogwarts in amazement but their stay wasn’t fabulous the whole time, until they set off to find out the mystery of the sorcerer’s stone. The Number One lesson I learnt from this book This book taught me a lot of things but the number one lesson I learnt from this book is the importance of trust in friendship. Harry, Ron and Hermione’s friendship is super strong. Their friendship means everything to them. They would go to any extent to save each other. The main reason they could create a happy ending in this story is TRUST. They knew that whatever sacrifices they would make in their way will be worth it because each of them trusted in one another. Their trust in friendship is like a friendship goal for me. Would I recommended it? What type of question is that? Of course I will recommend this to you guys! Do you like suspense? Romance? Thriller? It is all there in Harry Potter. So what are you waiting for?? GO AHEAD AND READ IT!!! How much would I rate it?? From the scale of 1 to 10: 11
