Covid-19 and the Earth - Pema Selden
Hard times often leads to beautiful results. This is the kind of situation the world is facing during the current time. The Covid-19 pandemic hit the whole world and our country is no exception. Well, if we really try to look at things from a different perspective and be positive, the current lockdown situation and the pandemic as a whole, is advantageous to all of us. Firstly, we get to spend a lot of quality time with our family. We get to share a lot of things with them and learn a lot of new things. We have the time to try out the things we always wanted to to do. Lockdown provides us the time to improve through which people can rediscover themselves and find out who they truly are and what they want to do in life. Lockdown has given us the time to think of everything from a different perspective. More importantly, the whole pandemic and especially this current lockdown situation has been healing our Earth. With all sorts of human activities taking place due to modernization, we have been harming our Mother Earth throughout centuries. We have been consumed by this thing called "human greed" and continued to harm our nature which has been providing us with all the essentials we "need" in life since the beginning of the earth. According to researches, global air and sea temperatures have risen on average by 1°C since the Industrial Revolution. Scientists warn that extreme weather conditions will become more likely including : •Global drought, •Global heavy rain and •Global heatwaves. It is evident, without any doubt that we are overusing our natural resources and harming our nature at the same time. Since the outbreak and transmission of Covid-19, our Environment has been slowly healing. And now, with the lockdown firmly in place in most of the countries, there has been very less or no movement at all, less cars on the road, most of the industries closed, less waste dumped at places, the pollution rate has immensely gone down. This Covid situation has actually helped our environment in a lot of ways. Moreover, it showed us the value of our mother earth and made us realize our own mistakes because going through challenging times can teach us a lot, and they also make us appreciate the times that aren't so challenging. Covid-19 pandemic actually proved to be a blessing in disguise. So, hard times have hard lessons to offer. Are we ready to learn them ? This is merely in our hands. We can fight back this virus by merely staying home and following to government protocols. This is the least we can do right now but it will hugely help our Mother Earth. Stay home, stay safe! Let us all do more, for the earth we adore!!! Let our Earth be healed.
