Keeping Water Bodies Clean - Ugyen Choden

An atom of oxygen and two hydrogen combines to form the most precious yet the most abundant element on earth. But we humans seldom realize how important it is not just to us humans but to the entire life on the planet due to its abundance. The water is getting polluted everyday and every minute and the major cause of water pollution is plastics. Plastics have greatly affected the marine life and the wild life in general. Not only does it kills fishes, birds, aquatic animals and destroy their habitat but also affect their reproducing rituals that will ultimately endanger the entire species.
Plastics that enter water bodies do not just degrade and disappear but it turns into smaller pieces called micro plastics. These plastics are then ingested by the fishes and sea birds while others get entangled in it. Various researches and studies have found out that plastics has effected huge number of species as a result of ingestion, starvation, infection and entanglement. It is a major concern and a threat to these species and might be endangered in the near future.
In order to reduce water pollution and save the aquatic life remember to practice these simple steps:
Refuse plastic bags while shopping and take your own bag.
Always carry reusable bags while shopping.
Reduce and recycle plastics as there are lots of ways to create fun stuffs recycling plastics.
I earnestly urge each and every individual to practice these common and simple methods to save our precious water. We as a whole can stop and save the marine life.
