KEEPING OUR ENVIRONMENT CLEAN - Tenzin Wangyal

Look around you! Look outside, and do you see a clean surrounding? Probably not. In this world, there are only a few people who keep our environment clean. Many may not know the importance of keeping the surrounding and environment clean and tidy. It may be because they may not know the consequences we face by keeping a dirty place. Today, I’ll give a few points about keeping surroundings clean and if not, what consequences we will face.
It is very important to have a clean surrounding. Inside our house, outside, everywhere. If we have a clean surrounding and environment, we will look clean and smart. We will also have a very clean life. By keeping our environment clean, our moods will change. Everybody will come to respect you, as you live a very clean life. Not only that, but if you go on cleaning campaigns, we will be highly appreciated, and even in our religion, we are doing a good deed and karma will reward us back with a good deed. It is not always necessary that we have to go on cleaning campaign, but even if you pick up a small piece of paper from the ground and put it in the dustbin/trashcan, you are making the environment clean, and that is also a good deed.
Cleaning our environment is a very good deed, but most of us do not do it. Why? Most of us only pick up waste if we are told so by a teacher or our parents. We don’t volunteer to do this work. Not only students, but everyone. Only a few are there who volunteer to clean. This is very bad. Not only are we forced to do this, but we will be hating the person who forced us to do it and that isn’t very good. We need people who will volunteer to clean our environment and keep it clean.
If we are not careful, there are many consequences. By keeping the environment dirty, there are many insects that will breed there, such as flies (who later on come inside our house and sit on food that we eat), mosquitos, and many more. And not only insects, but dogs. For example, Memelhaka is full of dogs, and if we are not careful, the dogs will bite and can infect us with many diseases. Keeping the environment dirty can result in foul smell, and imagine smelling it while you’re eating, sleeping, watching TV, etc. It will be unpleasant to live with that stench. There are many more, but I’ll leave it of here now.
To conclude it all, living in a clean environment is equivalent to living a clean life. Even if you pick a small plastic on your way to school, or wherever you’re going, it will make the environment less dirty. People around will appreciate you, you’ve done a good deed and it will take just a few seconds. Even if you can’t do all of these, please do not litter and throw waste wherever you want to. So, I would like to end by saying, “A clean environment is a safe environment”.
